NETWORKS & PARTNERS

One of the beliefs that led to establishing the BOCES is that powerful teaching and leadership require that educators have strong content knowledge and a commitment to continued learning. In addition, teachers need professional knowledge that supports content teaching, a deep repertoire of skills in instruction and assessment, including technological skills, and the knowledge and dispositions to lead change in education. Therefore, the structure established in the BOCES to plan and implement professional learning for teachers has been conceptualized as a "network of teachers involved in professional learning under the leadership of a joint faculty."

Active Networks
Front Range BOCES for Teacher Leadership serves as a resource broker for member districts and works closely with networks and partners by providing marketing and logistical support.  Active networks during the 2008 - 2009 school year include:

• Interventions & Learning Strategies Network (ILSN) and the Metro-Regional Professional
  Development Council

• Secondary Literacy

• Center for Transforming Learning and Teaching (CTLT)

• University of Colorado Denver Continuing Education & Professional Education for the School of Education and Human Development

• National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)

• Rocky Mountain Middle School Math and Science Partnership (RM-MSMSP).  Front Range BOCES is a partner in the Rocky Mountain Middle School Math and Science Partnership (RM-MSMSP) National Science Foundation grant project. This grant serves seven of our member districts and provides training to middle school math and science teachers in order to help them meet Highly Qualified requirements.
